Profile

Kenta M. Hagihara M.D., Ph. D.

Kenta was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. Kenta attended a medical school in Fukuoka, Japan, obtained a PhD from Friedrich Miescher Institute, Basel, Switzerland, and started working as a scientist at Allen Institute. In the Karel Svoboda lab, Kenta seeks to understand the circuit dynamics underlying flexible decision making and working memory. Kenta has many interests outside the lab; he plays the guitar in an instrumental post-rock band and likes photography, skiing, and power-lifting.
